Allen Lee Thomas was born on December 31, 1957, in Olney, Illinois, and grew up in Pawnee, where he developed resilience, humor, and determination.

After years of work and family life, he retired and began writing. His first book, The Lonely Library Book, was written for his granddaughter and celebrates the power of stories.
